It’s a great place to stock up on ammo or simply get a moment’s rest from the carnage on the streets of Paris below. A massive series of explosions begins, and the top half of the tower comes crashing down onto the rooftops across the river, creating a bridge.įor the rest of the match, players can teleport up to the tower’s platform and use the wreckage to reach a series of rooftops that contain more weapons and health. If your placement is off, it’s easy enough to detonate it manually with the press of a button. When placed right, the explosives will go off right when the enemy car heads through the teleporter. After that, it was just a matter of speeding out of there and waiting. Every time I started a match in Paris, I’d scramble to get a remote bomb, teleport up to the platform in the Eiffel Tower, and prepare it for any unfortunate victim that used the teleporter after me. With a single remote bomb, it’s possible to demolish the Eiffel Tower and open up a new area of the level.Ī stage that changes when a specific event occurs is commonplace now (especially in online shooters), but the idea was crazy to me back in 1996. As many times as I’ve blown the clothes off the Statue of Liberty, destroyed the Hollywood sign, or hid in windmills in Holland, there is one area and moment that stands out to me more than any. SingleTrac’s Twisted Metal 2 is one of my favorite games of all time, and each level is home to tons of great junior high memories.
